I’m a location sound recordist – based out of Portland, Oregon – who travels the planet with portable mixing rig, boom pole, microphones, digital recorder, and Pelican cases in tow.
And where have past projects taken me?
Well, it’s kinda’ a long story, but….
I’ve been in a government owned research sub at the bottom of Pearl Harbor.
And I’ve hung out with billionaires on a private island in the Caribbean.
Of course, there was that project over in the Himalayas where everyone – and I do mean everyone – got all slap-happy drunk at a Lion’s Club meeting.
Oddly enough, I was totally sober while working at Burning Man.
And then there was that time at the Smithsonian Institute (in a very secure backroom) where I got to hang out with the Hope Diamond.
And though I’ve never had the pleasure of meeting Neil Diamond (which would be insanely cool), I’ve done a ton of work with MTV and VH-1, and have been onstage, backstage, and in recording studios with a whole bunch of well-known musicians.
But I’ve also been covered in sweat while running through the jungles of the Peruvian Amazon.
In marked contrast, I’ve frozen my ass off while sleeping in a snow cave up at the Denali base camp.
And speaking of Alaska, I’ve worked all across the 49th State: from the far northern tip (up in Barrow), to the southern towns of Sitka, Juneau and Ketchikan. As an added bonus, I’ve been out to the Aleutian port of Dutch Harbor at least a dozen times.
But I also work in my home state of Oregon, where I do a mix of documentary, corporate, and commercial projects.
And for multi-day productions, I’ll even jump in my car and drive up to Washington, over to Idaho, or down to California.
So give me a shout, and let’s talk about that upcoming project you’re starting to crew up, along with your location sound needs.
